Stingrays are meant to be dangerous, right? One of them killed Steve Irwin, and the truth is that, yes, they are dangerous, with their barbed tail posing a serious threat. But the thing is that just because they’re dangerous doesn’t mean they’re vicious. They don’t even actively defend themselves.
As a matter of fact, they will actually swim away from danger instead of confronting it. One 2018 study found that they may actually like interacting with humans too, or at least it doesn’t negatively impact them.
