After rising to popularity in the late ’60s as a leader and spokesperson for the American feminist movement, Gloria Steinem has become known as a journalist and social-political activist in the United States. She also contributed as a columnist to New York Magazine and co-founded Ms. magazine.
Anybody who has read her best-selling book “My Life on the Road” knows that Steinem does not drive. She claims she has never driven a car or had a driver’s license. Traveling is one of the rare activities in which Steinem loves to accept the position of a passenger, even though she is typically a woman who likes taking charge.
