We are told in school to always pay attention, even when we don’t want to, but that’s a vital life lesson to remember. It’s easy to zone out and forget things that might come back to bite us in the behind, such as driving off with a pump hose still attached to the car.
In an interview with Business Insider, Kirk McCauley, a gas station owner for 31 years, stated that this happens around once a month because people don’t pay attention before driving off. But at least there’s no gas spill when this occurs because the pump possesses a break-away device that immediately detaches the hose when pulled.
