Hollywood Stars You Thought Were Long Gone But Are Still Alive Today

The list of celebrities who have entertained us since the Golden and Silver Age of Hollywood is a long one. Through the decades we’ve unfortunately lost some of these stars. However, they all remain permanent fixtures in showbiz through their extensive collection of works.

Several more are still alive and kicking despite perhaps retreating from public life. Some chose to quit the industry that earned them fame, others switched careers, while several more are still going strong working in showbiz. Here’s a list of some of our favorite celebrities who are still alive and aging gracefully.

Stefanie Powers – 79

Hart to Hart aired for five seasons between 1979 and 1984. It’s the show that got us better acquainted with Stefanie Powers. She reprised her role in the mystery series alongside her co-star Robert Wagner in eight TV movies released in the ’90s. Powers featured in the 2020 film The Artist’s Wife.

In 2009 Powers underwent surgery and had part of her right lung removed. This was after she was diagnosed with lung cancer the previous year owing to the years she had spent smoking heavily. Powers is now 78 and, fortunately enough, is still working in the entertainment industry.

Max Baer Jr. – 84

Max Baer Jr is the only living cast member from the ‘60s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. After the show concluded its run in 1971, Baer picked up guest roles in several TV shows but he struck out because of constantly being typecast. So instead, he decided to switch his focus to working behind the camera as a producer, director, and writer.

Baer seems to have retired unofficially from the showbiz industry, and we last saw him on an episode of Biography on A&E in 2004. He ventured into entrepreneurship by setting up Hillbillies-themed slot machines at several casinos.

Richard Simmons – 73

Milton Teagle “Richard” Simmons ventured into the weight-loss business in the ’70s and he eventually opened the Slimmons gym in Beverly Hills. The fitness establishment catered specifically to overweight clients and Simmons gained even more exposure through his consumer products and TV.

However, when he retreated from public life in 2016, speculations started to grow about his wellness. But his publicist and Simmons himself said that the concerns were unfounded and that he simply chose to adapt to private life. In the wake of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, he began uploading his archive fitness content on Youtube.
