The Role Vaccines Play In Our Lives
COVID-19 changed the world as we knew it when it arrived in 2020. There were drastic changes that people had to make in their lifestyles and how they communicated. People transitioned from in-house meetings to online meetings through Zoom and Skype, etc. Another big change was wearing masks and protective equipment no matter where we went. Once various medical companies started coming forward with vaccines, there was finally light at the end of the tunnel.

Being vaccinated reduced the severity of the disease and allowed people to develop antibodies against it. Vaccinations reduce the chances of people being hospitalized or dying in case they get infected with the virus. Previously, vaccines were not considered safe for children between the ages of 6 months to 17 years, but now children can also get vaccinated.
Highlands-Cashiers Plateau Covid 19 vaccine drive was held in more than 20 vaccination clinics to vaccinate more than 14,000 members. No one can say for sure at this point how beneficial this effort was for the community’s well-being. Only time will tell how the vaccines have impacted the children.

As a general rule, parents should stay up to date about their kids’ vaccines and never miss out on them. Essential vaccines for babies and children are Diptheria, pertussis, Hepatitis A, Measles, and mumps. and Rubella (MMR). Haemophilus, Pneumococcal (PCV13), Polio (IPV),
Varicella (Chickenpox) and Rotavirus are also vaccines that should be given to kids at the early stages of development. Children should get annual flu shots, and this should be done throughout adulthood. Sometimes adults need boosters for the shots they had, so talk to your physician before scheduling one.

Adults over 65 should also get booster shots, flu shots, the Covid-19 vaccine, and booster shots. The pneumonia vaccines, including PCV13 and PPSV23, are also vital hence adults should consult a physician before getting them. Adults above the age of 50 should get shingles vaccines. The safety of vaccines has now been a concern for most parents. This is probably why most parents are reluctant to vaccinate their kids.
Getting vaccinated means you are protecting yourself and the loved ones around you, including your kids, older people, and people going through cancer treatments. Vaccines protect and save lives of 2-3 million lives each year. Getting vaccinated makes these diseases less common and prevents their spread to the extent that they can be eradicated – like smallpox in 1980. However, most diseases can exist in animals or the environment.
They will always be a threat to the people, which is why getting vaccinated is crucial. Vaccines show the particular virus or bacteria as harmless to the immune system so that if a person gets infected, the immune system creates a defense by producing antibodies. With schools closing down again for the vacations, it’s the best time to look into the details of the vaccines you and your family need.
